Dr. Xiaodong Wang is the Founding Director and Architect of 800-person team at the National Institute of Biological Sciences (NIBS) in Beijing. He also founded BeiGene in 2010, and has served as Chairman of Scientific Advisory Board since 2011. Dr. Wang has been dedicated in research focused on apoptosis, a form of cell death executed by intracellular caspases. Based on the research results, Dr. Wang also developed new investigational oncology drugs targeting tumor cell apoptosis. Dr. Wang was named a member of National Academy of Sciences, USA in 2004 and was elected Foreign Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2013. In 2014, he was elected the foreign member of the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) and won multiple international biological research awards, including the Shaw Prize in Biological Science and Medicine from the Shaw Prize Foundation. Dr. Wang received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and B.S. in Biology from Beijing Normal University.
